Podcast in a Box

A foolproof and fully automated podcast appliance

Podcast in a Box is the award winning, fully automated podcasting appliance from Webcast in a Box. These appliances are already in use at several universities and colleges around the country, such as USC, Farleigh Dickinson College, Fullerton Community College, Amarillo College, LeMoyne College, and others. Podcast in a Box integrates completely with the Meedu.org hosting service, and together they offer a fully automated educational podcast creation, publishing, and hosting solution.

Podcast in a Box gives you two simple options for fully automated production of audio podcasts. Option 1: schedule your event in the web interface, and plug in a microphone. The appliance automatically starts on schedule creating the podcast episode, stops when the event is over, and then publishes the podcast episode into Meedu.org. No interaction is required by the instructor: all they have to remember is to speak into the microphone.

Option 2: the instructor can use a "SmartKey" (which is a standard USB thumbdrive with a simple XML text file on it). When the instructor inserts the key into the front of the appliance, the appliance starts capturing; when the key is removed, the podcast is published into Meedu.org and is available immediately for download to students, without any involvement from the instructor.

With Podcast in a Box the production costs of podcasting can be reduced to zero, and no training is required to use the appliance.
